New BS 5839-1:2025 Requirement for Fire Alarm Systems – How QDOS is Making Compliance Simple

At QDOS, we always strive to make fire safety simple, effective, and hassle-free for our customers. With the recent publication of the new standard for non-domestic fire alarm systems, BS 5839-1:2025, a key update has been introduced for systems connected to an Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC).
What’s new in BS 5839-1:2025?
Clause 14.22 of the standard states:
“Where the functionality is provided for automatic transmission of alarm signals to an ARC, there should be a label on or adjacent to the CIE to avoid a false activation that could summon the fire and rescue service.”
In plain terms, this means that any fire alarm system connected to an ARC should display a clear notice to prevent unwanted activations unnecessarily summoning the fire and rescue service.
